In this area, you will see a 10mm plug threaded into the block. This plug typically has a female Allen head. Remove this Allen head plug. This will gain you access to hole in the camshaft. Timing is very critical on diesels and reinstalling that pump could be a bear. I would continue to turn engine over and crack one fuel line at a time up near the injector until fuel appears.
